Setting up your mail program

Microsoft's Internet Mail
1. On the menu bar, click Mail, then Options.
2. On the Options windows, click the Server tab.
        Next, put the information in the appropriate box.
Name: Put your firstname and lastname here.
Organization: Put your office here. If you don't have one, just leave it blank.
Email Address: Put your email address here. (i.e. JohnDuo@mn.state.net)
Outgoing Mail (SMTP): Put "mail.state.net" here.
Incoming Mail (POP3): Put "pop.state.net" here.
POP3 Account: Put your login name here. (i.e. ab010000)
Password: Put your login password here.
3. Click on the Advanced Settings icon on the Options menu and make sure that the Reply To: box is empty. On the Delivery section, make sure that "Leave a copy of messages on server" is not checked. This will delete your messages on the server. If you do not delete them, your mailbox on the sever will be full and new messages will not be able to get in. Then, click OK, and OK.

Netscape Mail version 3
1. On the menu bar, click Options, then Mail and News preferences.
2. On the Preferences windows, click the Servers tab.
        Next, put the information in the appropriate box.
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Servers: Put "mail.state.net" here.
Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: Put "pop.state.net" here.
POP3 User Name: Put your login name here. (i.e. ab010000)
On the item Messages are copied from the server to the local disk,then:, Make sure that "Remove from the server" is chosen. This action will delete your messages on the server. If you do not delete them, your mailbox on the sever will be full and new messages will not be able to get in.
3. Click on the Identity tab, then put the information in the appropriate box. Next, click OK.
Your Name: Put your firstname and lastname here.
Email Address: Put your email address here. (i.e. JohnDuo@mn.state.net)
Reply-to Address: Put in the email address that you want people to send the reply message to. If it is the same as your email, leave it blank.
Your Organization: Put your company name here. If you don't have one, just leave it blank.

Netscape Communicator Mail 4.x
    1.Dial into the internet, then start Netscape Communicator.

    2.After Communicator is started, click on the "Edit" menu, then "Preferences".

    3.Doubleclick on the "Mail & Groups" item listed under Catagory.

    4.Click on the "Mail Server".

    5.For "Mail Server User Name" you must enter your username

      Note: Username is the first part of your email address, ie. john@state.net where, john is the username.

    6.For "Outgoing mail(SMTP) server" enter "mail.state.net"

    7.For "Incoming mail server" enter "pop.state.net"

    8.Under the "Mail Server type:" verify that the "POP3" tab is checked off.

    9.Next, from the"Category"list, click on"Identity"

    10.In the space identified as E-mail Address enter username@mn.state.net

      Note: If you have a registered Domain Name, enter it here in place of computan.on.ca

    11.In the space identified as Reply-to Address enter username@mn.state.net 

    12.That is all the configuration you should have to do, there are other options but at this point eudora should work just fine.

    13.Click "OK", and that should be it, your email should now be configured.

Eudora Lite
1. When you start Eudora for the first time this windows will come up for you to setup.
        If you need to get to this window you can click on Special and click on settings.

    POP account: you need to enter your User ID (i.e. ab010000)
    Real name: you need to enter your name (i.e. John Dou)

2. Click on Personal Information Icon
    Return address: you need to add your E-mail address (i.e. JohnDou@mn.state.net)

3. Click on the Hosts Icon
    SMTP:You will need to add "mail.state.net"

4. Click on Checking Mail Icon
You will need to add:
Check for mail every 10 minutes
Click OK

5. Getting Your Mail
Now that everything is configured right, make sure you are dial-in to Minnesota OnLine. You can click on File and click on Check Mail. This will open the Inbox. All your mail will download to your computer. This will delete the mail on the server. All of your mail will stay on your computer until you delete it.
