ws_ping. Ping hosts on the internet. Find out if a host is alive. Useful for diagnostics.

pk_zip.exe

The pkzip utilities version 2.04g. Includes pkzip, pkunzip, zip2exe and other utilities. Necessary for compressing/decompressing and transfering multiple files. See winzip.exe below.

A very powerful shareware that can handle over 20 graphic formats. Create original graphics as well as display/convert/crop/resize/edit other pictures. A poor man's Photoshop!

telnetz.exe

Telnet application which is used for logging into an account from a remote location.

Trumpet Apps: A bunch of apps from Down-Under, Telnet Ftp etc.

wincode.zip

A windows program which will decode or encode binary files to/from ascii. Useful for converting graphics which have been sent by email or in a newsgroup. Also runs in Win 95.

winzip.exe

A windows unzipping program good for decompressing/compressing and transfering multiple files. Requires pkzip.exe (above) for extra features.

win_qvtz.exe

WinQVT. Telnet, FTP and NEWS all in one program.

winsockz.exe

Trumpet winsock. A TCP/IP stack with bundled net utilities which can be useful. For the adventurous and/or knowledgble.

winvn16.exe

Another excellent stand-alone newsreader.

Mac Software

Most of the Mac files are .sea (self extracting archive) format or have installers. Simpily download them and double click them to extract or Install. A few require Stuffit (below) to decompress them.
